Africa: Sola Sobowale Wins Big At Amaa, Emerges Queen Of The Screens
Popular Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale has emerged the Queen of Africa’s big screen from her big win at the recently held Africa Movie Academy Awards(AMAA).
The sultry multi-talented actress won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Category beating seven other actresses in her category.
Her role in Kemi Adetiba’s movie ‘King of Boys’ where she played ‘Eniola’ was the jury’s preference for the highly coveted award.
In her response while receiving the award amidst loud ovation, the actress dedicated the victory to her UK based children.
“I would like to thank AMAA for this recognition. You know, 15 years ago, I was at the very first AMAA in Bayelsa State and I came back without an award. But here I am, clutching the AMAA 15 years after.
“I want to dedicate this award to my children. They told me that staying in UK was not for me. They asked me to come back home and continue to do that which I know how to do best. She added.
Sola Sobowale has starred in several Blockbusters which include Super Story where she played the role of ‘Toyin Tomato’s, Diamond Ring, Madam Dearest, among others.
Her dexterity in switching between her native Yoruba and English roles has endeared her to movie lovers.
The prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards which is in its 15th edition honours creativity in the Movie industry.
