News: APCN in collaboration with African Chefs United to host HAAPI Nigeria 2018


Hospitality All African People Im bizo (HAAPI, is a festival, celebrating the indigenous African Food, Drinks and Music as a way of promoting the rich African Culture.

The event was initiated by Technopro Trading Enterprise run under the African Chefs United (ACU), Johannesburg, South Africa.

ACU is an umbrella body of all Association of Chefs, Nutritionist, Cultural Dance groups in Africa of course those that are committed to promote Africa’s rich Culture.
The event is hosted once every year and each African country takes turn to host it.

The Association Of Professional Chefs Nigeria (APCN) in collaboration with African Chefs United (ACU), South Africa have been able to attract major partners and sponsors for HAAPI NIGERIA 2018 which includes Eko Hotel, LilyGate Hotels, Pelican hotels, Maggi (Nestle PLC), Lekki Leisure Lake, Hospitality Business School (HBS) all in Lagos Nigeria where the event will take place.
Other partners include Techno Pro, South Africa and Nisa Foods, Abuja.

The festival is expected to have Culinary Practitioners and Associations from over Twenty (20) Countries in Africa and Australia starting from 28th August to 2nd October, 2018

The Board of Trustees, Patrons and National Executive Committee of the Association of Professional Chefs Nigeria bided and won the hosting right of the event as a way of supporting the Tourism drive of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Series of events slated to hold during the festival includes: The Young Chef Skills Challenge, Nelson Mandela Culinary Display, Mystery Basket competition others includes: cocktail party at lilygate, Seminars and workshop at Banquet Hall of Eko Hotel., Competitions at HBS.
Barbeque, games and fun at Lekki Leisure Lake.

Gala Nite and grand finale at Eko Hotel with presentation of certificate of participation.

Government officials from the Tourism sector of Nigeria and other countries are expected to witness the events including Honourable Desmond Elliot ( Chairman Lagos State house committee on Tourism), A representative of Honourable Minister for Tourism, Ambassadors from member delegate countries.

During the event, the Chefs in attendance will have ample opportunity to witness and learn different African cuisines to enrich their menu and presentation and at the same time carry out self-assessment.

The festival of this magnitude has come to Nigeria at the right time, most especially as President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to Tourism Development.

The Nigerian Chefs being one of the major players in this regard does not believe in talk shows and have decided to compliment the President’s effort by bring this open doors to the country’s Tourism sector which cuts across show casing our food culture, enrichment of our food tourism potentials and hospitality.

The Association of Professional Chefs Nigeria is the one and only umbrella of the Nigerian Chefs which has represented the country in several international events and conferences since 2011 including HAAPI FESTIVAL in South Africa and Ghana, WICS Conference at Turkey, AKWAABA events etc.

The National President, His Highness Chief (Chef) Ekpenyong Paulinus Okon and the ACU Deputy Director for West Africa and Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chef Akintunde Adeshina Shine with his eight member committee members at Lagos is working hand to hand with the African Chefs United President, Chef Citrum Khumalo at South Africa to make the HAAPI NIGERIA 2018 a success
