By Renn Offor
Ahead the upcoming 3rd AccraWeizo, which kicked off with a Famtrip hosted by the Ghana Tourism Authority, the ECOWAS region travel fair, several tour operators, travel agents and journalists from Nigeria are reveling in nature’s hidden treasure at the Ridge Royal Hotel Cape Coast.
The famtrip was specifically packaged by the Ghanaian Tourism Authority as part of its effort to open to the Nigeria travel business stakeholders the abundant treasures that Ghana is bleeds with even as it drives to establishing lasting tourism business transactions between the two country dominant economies in the West African sub region.
The trip started with a brief stopover at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, the venue for the 3rd Accra Weizo event. After enjoying a pleasant reception from the hotel, we met the organizer of the event, Mr. Ikechi Uko and other travel agents, travel bloggers and tour operators.
Mr. Wisdom of the Ghana Tourism Authority met up with us and we promptly set for out to our first port of call: Ridge Royal Hotel, Cape Coast.
Immediately on arrival at the Hotel, which is actually set on a ridge as the name tells; one of tourists, Jubilian, got fascinated by the beautiful attraction of a flower – crafted entrance that leads to another section of the hotel. She left her luggage and spontaneously ran to have a photo of herself over the door! Little did she know that she has not seen anything yet!
The Ridge Hotel is set amidst abundant green vegetation. The Ridge Royal Hotel stands out as one hotel that bids you welcome to nature! The hotel’s facility informs that it was intentionally structured in a way that looking out from every floor and every room the surrounding is pleasantly rejuvenating to the mind, subtly inspiring to the senses and unmistakably relaxing.
The staff, all beaming with that characteristic smile that says, “Akwaaba”, which means welcome, demonstrated benevolent kindness in helping with luggage. Inside the hotel, they were first treated with welcome glasses of locally made drink and “kuben-nsuo” which means coconut water.
Ridge Royal Hotel just opened last late last year. With 80 uniquely furnished rooms and 5 suites; a swimming pool with a section for children. The swimming pool has a bar and theatre for live performance. It also has a gym and a table tennis.
From the Ridge the team will proceed to Kakum National Park, do the famous walkway and move on to Elmina Slave Castle where a barrage of fun awaits the tourists.
