Tourism: 11 Ghanaian firms win Africa Top 100 Tour Operators Award

Eleven Ghanaian tour operator companies have been listed among the top 100 African tour operators that will receive the prestigious Africa Top 100 Tour Operators Award at the upcoming 14th edition of Akwaaba African Travel Market slated for 9th to 11th September, 2018, in Lagos Nigeria.

The eleven firms which made the list in Ghana include Staple Tours, Kaya Tours, Pacific Tours, Stellar Tours, Dodi Tours and Apstar Tours Ltd.

Others include Sunseekers Tours, Doscar travels, Land Tours, M & J Tour and Japo Tours.

Africa Top 100 Tour Operators Award is one of the segments of the event which was put together by ATQ News, a foremost online travel news portal in Africa in conjunction with Akwaaba African Travel Market Tourism as Africa needs to get at least 10% of Africans to travel within Africa, which can only be achieved through the support of Tour Operators.

According to report published on atqnews.com, Africa is a continent of over 1 billion people but receives only 6% of the global tourist Arrivals, adding that as the middle class and number of travellers increase there is a need to organize the Tourism and Travel landscape by growing scale.

It said Akwaaba African Travel market is pulling together all major outbound Tour Operators in Africa to a Summit in Lagos on the 10th of September which will enable players from Different countries to build partnership and explore new opportunities to grow.

Among other named tour operators for the award are from South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Congo, Angola, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Benin, Togo, Tanzania and Botswana.

The 14th Akwaaba African Travel Market will also feature Africa Tour Operators Conference. During the session, the theme, “The Role of DMCs and DMOs in Sustainable Destination Marketing in Africa will be discussed with sub-topics – What are the Challenges? Should it be Competition or Cooperation? What are the Effective Models? And Who is Responsible?
